Jess McDonoughPrincipal Broker
Whether home is a boat, bus, or bungalow, Jess has been passionate about housing her entire life. Her fascination with the meaning and significance of home continued to develop when she moved to Portland fourteen years ago from an island near Seattle. Since then she has lived in most of Portland’s East Side neighborhoods, developing a keen understanding of their unique personalities even as they continue to change. Matching the right home and community with the right person is among her greatest pleasures.
Over the last four and a half years, Jess has had the opportunity to work on hundreds of transactions, so she understands the emotional roller coaster that buying or selling real estate can be. She strives to support and advocate for each client every step of the way, and prides herself on making the process as smooth and uneventful as possible. A levelheaded approach means Jess can provide emotional support, counseling, and rational solutions if things get difficult.
Her degree in Natural Resources from Oregon State University included an emphasis on urban ecology and sustainability giving her an appreciation for well-designed spaces and green construction practices. Additional studies in environmental justice and social equity underpin her commitment to helping others create or maintain their own sense of place. Jess loves working with first-time buyers and others who understand the role homeownership can play in creating a stable, successful, and happy life and community.
Jess bases her business on recommendations from past clients and word of mouth. This relational business model means that the long-term satisfaction of her clients is of paramount importance. She wants to be a resource for any real estate questions, concerns, or needs during the transaction and well into the future.
When not combing RMLS for overlooked potential gems, Jess enjoys gardening, traveling, mountain biking, and learning new things (like discovering how much fun stained glass art can be!). But her very favorite thing just might be evening walks around her neighborhood of University Park with her partner, Rob, and their dogs, Aster and Cosmo.
