51-Unit Affordable Housing Building Breaks Ground

Central City Concern (CCC) has broken ground on a 51-unit affordable housing community in North Portland last week. Part of CCC’s “Housing is Health” initiative, the 51-unit apartment building will be named  Charlotte B. Rutherford Place – honoring one of Portland’s pioneering African American families – and will have 34 one-bedroom and 17 two-bedroom units.

The building is part of the City of Portland’s N/NE Neighborhood Housing Strategy to address gentrification and the displacement of long-time communities from neighborhoods in North and Northeast Portland.
