Home Energy Scores Mandatory January 1st

Beginning next year, all homes for sale in the City of Portland will be required to have a Home Energy Score before going on the market. The score has been likened to the miles per gallon for an automobile - it tells potential buyers how much it will cost to heat (or cool) the home. The score is on a scale of one to ten and takes into consideration the age, insulation, and layout of the home, among other things.
