Design Commission Approves Convention Center Hotel

The Oregon Convention Center Hotel has received approval from the Design Commission. The proposed site for the hotel is at the corner of NE Holladay and NE MLK Blvd and is bound by NE 2nd and NE Hassalo Pl. It is directly across NE Holladay from the Oregon Convention Center and is adjacent to the Convention Center MAX Station.

The hotel will be a Hyatt Regency and will be 14 stories with 600 guest rooms, 32,000 sq ft of meeting and ballroom space, a restaurant and bar, and a 24-hour retail market. The $240 million hotel will be funded from a combination of public and private sources. Oregon Metro will contribute $60 million in bonds (which are backed by lodging taxes generated by hotel guests), Hyatt/Mortenson Development is contributing $165 million, and an¬†additional $4 million and $10 million will come from Metro’s Convention Center reserves & lottery funds, respectively.
