Is a New Music Venue Coming to NW Portland?

The Willamette Week is reporting a proposed new music venue in Northwest Portland across the street from Montgomery Park at NW 27th Avenue and NW Vaughn Street. Local entertainment company Monquie Presents met with two local neighborhood associations to share plans for the 3000-person venue. At that size, the venue would be larger than both the Roseland Theater and the Crystal Ballroom. According to the Northwest District Neighborhood Association, the new venue would also offer creative offices and music production space.

The location is currently home to musician rehearsal space, a construction company, and a cabinet maker. The developer, Langly Investment Properties, and architect, LRS Architects, would need to gain city approval to change the zoning of the site from its current designation as “industrial and mixed-employment” to “retail” in order for the project to be approved.
