What “Stay Home” Means To Us

As you know, the COVID-19 virus continues to spread, creating a huge public health risk. Health officials have pleaded with people to reduce contact with other people, with the ideal scenario being people staying home as much as possible.

To that end, on Monday, March 23rd Governor Kate Brown issued Executive Order 20-12, which reads in part:

“It is essential to the health, safety, and welfare of the State of Oregon during the ongoing state of emergency that, to the maximum extent possible, individuals stay at home or at their place of residence.”

Our neighbors in California and Washington are under similar statewide orders. In each of those states, the State Realtor Associations issued guidance that Realtors are to comply by doing just what the orders say: stay at home. Realtors in each state are exclusively working from home.

The Oregon Association of Realtors has not issued such clear guidance. Nonetheless, Think Real Estate is complying with the order by staying home to the maximum extent possible.

What does this mean for clients?

We can help with urgent, essential real estate needs, but our ability to leave home is restricted. Yes, you may see other Realtors out showing homes and working as normal, but this is not the spirit of the “stay home” order and we will not do it. We can only leave home for urgent, essential trips.

That said, we can do a lot from home. We can talk on the phone or have a video chat to discuss real estate questions or anything you need help with. We are also gathering resources to answer questions you may have about how to survive this crisis, financially. Please, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

In the meantime, stay healthy and safe.
